Sif Savery

Animator & Creator

In this honest and deeply personal portrait, Danish animation director Sif Savery traces her journey from teenage online animation communities to the professional animation industry, revealing how craft, persistence, and emotional truth have shaped her artistic voice. What began with early Flash experiments and web-based fan animations gradually developed into a lifelong commitment to storytelling through animation.

At the heart of the interview is Tales of Zale, a project Savery has carried with her for years. Originally born from the image of a fox in a desolate world, the story later became inseparable from her experience of loss following her father’s death. She reflects on how the project evolved from a youthful idea into a layered work about grief, survival, and finding light in dark places, while remaining committed to making something emotionally honest without becoming hopeless or heavy.
